O’s Notes: Pianist Rosnes composes seven of nine new tracks for Life On Earth. Some have African flavor, courtesy of fine work on tabla from Zakir Hussain (Empress Afternoon), djembe & vocals from Mor Thiam (Senegal Son) and percussion by Duduka Da Fonseca (3 tracks, most notably “Hanuman” with brass). The balance of the music includes a nice arrangement of “Ballad Of The Sad Young Men” and Renee’s “The Quiet Earth” with John Patitucci (b) and Billy Drummond (d). Overall, it’s a nice blend of peace, passion and groove.
