O’s Notes: Kit plays piano and composed all of the music on Light from Old Stars. The band is a quintet with Lucy Railton playing cello, Calum Gourlay on bass, drummer James Maddren and James Allsopp (sax) joining Downes. The program is somewhat dark and eerie as suggested by the title. The liner notes are a bit of a science lesson on stars and our coexistence that provides further clarification to the music. The overall effect is as mysterious and intriguing as outer space.
