O’s Notes: Start with an excellent trio: Bill Coon (g), Rene Worst (b) and Dave Robbins (d), and you know the music is right. Add Scott to the mix on piano and lyrics and you’ve got a winner! “This Can’t Be Love” is a showcase tune especially for Dave Robbins who lights it up with his solo. Jennifer shadows her notes on piano with scatting on “Laugh Clown Laugh” which includes an energetic exchange between Dave and Rene as well. We liked Scott’s flowing cover of “Corcovado” and the bouncy pace of “How About You” with a cool solo from Bill. That feeling continues with the blues of “Rocks In My Bed”. These are all covers but they are done well with enthusiastic engagement from each of the members of the band. Their spirit engages listeners and makes the session work well.
