O’s Notes: Phil Woods has a romantic and soothing signature sound with his sax. Bob Lark is the perfect complement on flugelhorn. The rest of the quintet is Jim McNeely (p), Steve Gilmore (b) and Bill Goodwin (d). “Every Time We Say Goodbye” soothes with the listener with warm sax, mellow flugelhorn and a spectacular piano solo. The band coalesces over seven extended compositions including three Lark originals. This is a first class live recording.
