O’s Notes: Judi pushes the envelope on Live Takes, a collection of improvised tracks performed by a non-traditional band that is absent guitar and keyboards. Improvisation is paramount as Silvano scats and sings with the band. Michael Formanek does and excellent job playing bass especially on “Boscarob”, our favorite track. The program includes seven of Judi’s originals with a cool new arrangements of Sun Ra’s “Love In Outer Space” and a Japanese Folk Song.
