O’s Notes: Mano A Mano features pianist Michel Camilo and conguero Giovanni Hidalgo in a spirited exchange. They get strong support from bassist Charles Flores as they perform seamlessly over ten selections including seven Camilo originals. “The Sidewinder” is a swinging funky cover that is nicely complemented by the peace and tranquility of “Then and Now”. Other highlights are “Rice and Beans”, “Naima” and “Rumba Pa’ Ti” rounding out a good set of mixed tempo selections.
