O’s Notes: Pianist Emmet Cohen presents his first volume of the Master Legacy Series featuring drummer Jimmy Cobb with Yashushi Nakamura on bass. Guest saxophonist Godwin Lewis appears on two selections notably “Hard Times”. It was recorded live at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City March 2016. They swing through eleven jazz classics including three Cohen originals. The overall theme is optimism in the face of seemingly desperate times.“
