O’s Notes: While Alberta performed in the 1920’s and little if any video exists to document that period, this DVD captures her entire life. It starts with her journey to Chicago as a child, determined to make big money as a singer. The relentless pursuit that led to her success took her where she could win as an African American entertainer during that period. That meant Paris, England and then performing for our troops. She retired from music to become a nurse at 62 and returned to music 20 years later! This is an excellent documentary of a legendary performer.
