O’s Notes: Kristy is a jazz vocalist with a deep, soft warm voice. She takes us through a dozen popular tunes including “My Romance” and “Blackbird”. Her approach is different as she embellishes all of the intricacies never hiding behind the music. A strong band that embellishes each selection backs her. Of note is “It Could Happen to You” featuring bassist Don Thompson. Our favorite was “A Sleepin’ Bee” with cool acapella backing from Cadence led by Kevin Fox. This is a throwback to Kristy’s work with the acapella group Wibijazzin. It’s a good debut and holds promise!
