O’s Notes: Veteran jazz pianist Joe Haider is added strings to his regular trio for this session. Giorgos Antoniou (b) and Daniel Aebi (d) are the usual suspects now joined by Thomi Geiger (sax) and the Modern String Quartet from Munich making the double quartet. Most of the music is written or arranged by Haider. The results exceeded are expectations especially on mellow songs like “Call From the Hill” and “A Sunday in Switzerland”. They also swing into a warm groove on “Nesenbach Blues”, an appropriate closer.
