O’s Notes: Mike (sax) is in fine company with pianist Harold Mabern, Dwayne Burno (b) and Tony Reedus on drums. They have a great sense of swing whether they are burning on the opener, “Clarity” or relaxed on “The Sage”. We prefer the burners since these guys have an abundance of energy. Check out Mike’s extended solo to wrap up “Prelude To A Kiss”! There are seven songs, each in excess of six minutes, long enough to develop the theme and have meaningful solos. New York Accent is a good live session.
