O’s Notes: There are two types of singers: those who read the lyrics and those who tell the story! Ernestine Anderson falls in the latter category and does so with a lot of soul. Houston Person adds warm shadowing sax to the equation resulting in a fine performance. While these are tried and true classics, Anderson puts them in a different perspective. She is a fine entertainer and generated a buzz during this live set at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in New York. You’ll feel the passion especially on “All Blues”, “Nightlife” and “Never Make Your Move Too Soon”.
