O’s Notes: Tommy (t sax) follows his 1st CD as a leader with another strong effort. His formula remains the same -> great musicians and good arrangements of great tunes. The musicians are Karolina Strassmayer (a sax, fl), Lisa Parrott (b sax), Noriko Ueda (b), Sherrie Maricle (d), Warren Vaché (cornet), Derek Smith (p) and Wayne Andre (tb). Any one with doubts about women in jazz, listen up. Half of this band is very talented females! We preferred the upbeat numbers “In A Mellow Tone” and “Speak Low”. This session is swinging, sassy and cool.
