O’s Notes: MusAner is an Armenian large ensemble led by pianist Ara Sarkissian. They blend their native music with jazz-fusion to arrive at a fresh sound that has broad appeal. We found ourselves patting our feet through most of the set. The compositions are well-developed stories that evolve. We liked the interaction between drummer Gary Feldman and Fabio Pirozzolo (perc) and the well-integrated accordion of Roberto Cassan. The combinations work very well.
