O’s Notes: Norwegian jazz pianist, composer Tord Gustavsen leads a trio with Steiner Raines (b, electronics) and Jerel Vespestad (d) for Opening. Tord’s piano work on “Findings” and “Vær Sterk, Min Sjel” is excellent. His approach draws listeners into his space without offending them. We also enjoyed “Findings” featuring Vespestad. There’s a bit of a spiritual character on “The Longing”, a glimpse into what makes Gustavsen’s work magical!
