O’s Notes: Willers is a guitarist (also percussion, banjo, bass and drums) and master of creating loops to mimic instruments and produce multilayered compositions. He alternates between free jazz and fusion as he builds layers of sound for these solo recordings. Most of the songs are originals but he includes covers of some popular music to keep the listener engaged and fully entertained. “Kater Mikesch”, the 1960s TV show theme song is a prime example! We enjoyed “Time Flies”, the racy “Obliviously”, Ray Brown’s “Parking Lot Blues” and “Against Better Judgment”, a rather chaotic tune that felt like it belonged in a sci-fi movie. This one-man band is probably most impressive in a live performance where you can witness the full scope of the encounter.
