O’s Notes: System VII is a septet that evolved from the late Francisco Aguabella’s Latin Jazz Band based in Los Angeles. Benn Clatworthy (sax, cl, fl) leads a band that has evolved to playing their own music on Our Thing. Clatworthy composed four of the six tunes and Joey Sellers (tb) wrote the remaining two. The Afro-Cuban beats permeate the entire set keeping the syncopated music lively but warm.
