O’s Notes: Woody Witt plays tenor and soprano sax and drives the melodies with intensity and passion appropriately. He leads a band with Gary Norian (p), Mark Simmons (d) and Anthony Sapp (b). Guitarist Chris Cortez makes guest appearances on three tracks notably the Eddie Harris tune “Listen Here”. Woody soothes us on “Heart First” and then makes it mellow on “Loose Change”. Overall it was a strong blend of burners and ballads that will appeal to both contemporary and straight-ahead jazz fans.
