O’s Notes: This man needs no introduction as a pianist and composer. This session is an autobiographical sketch of Dave’s time spent in the US Army overseas during World War II. The songs express hope, dreams and desire at a time when many loved ones were separated for lengthy stints with uncertain duration. The liner notes are excellent to take us along Dave’s journey. The 2nd CD is an interview conducted by Walter Cronkite. It compliments the liner notes with an excellent historical perspective of Dave’s time in the war. His music serves as similar inspiration to many over many years.
