O’s Notes: Pianist Danilo Perez is back with yet another dynamic, creative landscape. This one is titled Providencia, a blend of jazz, Latin, classical and popular music forms that incorporates all of Perez’ years of experience. He pays homage to his native Panama on several tracks. It is his Mack Avenue debut and he starts with a bang. The band includes Ben Street (b), Adam Cruz (d) and a talented cast of guest artists. The title track incorporates vocalization from singer Sara Serpa helping the round out a complex piece. We also enjoyed “Daniela’s Chronicles” a beautiful ballad in this super session of eleven tracks.
