O’s Notes: Al DiMeola is a veteran guitarist who burst onto the scene in the 1970s with Return To Forever. In those days he was into the pyrotechnics. Today, Al is matured and presents a relaxed program with mellow Latin accents that flow with a groove that feels good! Al has not lost his chops however and we hear him blazing on “Siberiana” but he does so in harmony with his accompanying musicians and it is beautiful. We also enjoyed “Mawazine Part 1” and the calypso beats of “Gumbuero”.
