O’s Notes: This is free fusion led by some cool bowing by Friedlander on his cello. He’s joined by Andy Lasker (sax), Stomu Takeishi (b) and Satoshi Takeishi (percussion). You won’t miss the absence of drums. The open soundscape makes it easy to focus on their melodies and solos. These are fine musicians who play well together. We suggest ‘free’ fusion because the compositions allow for maximum creativity. You can hear this from the racy opener, “Consternation” all the way through the set. This team is enjoying themselves and the enthusiasm surfaces in their performance.
