O’s Notes: The first and lasting impressions on this recording are the mellow tones from Brian Lynch’s trumpet and the well-placed rhythms from pianist Emmet Cohen. The music on Questioned Answer is a combination of old and new music dedicated to the National Young Arts Foundation. Brian is a Young Arts teacher and Emmet is a celebrated Young Arts 2009 award winner! The contrast continues in the quartet with young bassist Boris Koslov and the polished veteran drummer Billy Hart. Together they perform nine vibrant neobop selections. The leaders each contribute three originals to go with three new arrangements. We enjoyed both duo and quartet configurations.
