O’s Notes: Recuerdos features the father and son duo of Manuel Valera Sr. On sax and his son, pianist Manuel Valera. They work with bassist Hans Glawischnig, drummer Ludwig Afonso and Mauricio Herrera (percussion). All of the arrangements are by Manuel junior who plays a prominent role on each of the ten classic boleros. But Manuel senior leads the melodies opening and closing each selection. The net effect is positive making a timeless recording.
