O’s Notes: Guitarist Julian Tilapornputt leads a jazz-fusion quartet with Joe Wagner on sax, Jong Hwan Park on bass and drummer Ken Ychicawa. Thai born Tilapornputt arrived on the New York jazz scene after studying jazz guitar at Berklee and receiving his Masters in Jazz Studies from NYU. This is his second take as a leader and he continues to evolve. He composed all 9 songs, each reflective of people who have been influential in his life hence the title“Regards To You II. While the personalities are different, they are linked by Julphan’s style. The music is open and airy on songs like “Number One” and “From The End of Tales” featuring crisp acoustic guitar melodies indicative of a solid effort.
