O’s Notes: Russ plays tenor and soprano sax leading a quartet with Manuel Valera (p), Michael O’Brien (b) and Brian Fishler (d). Yasuyo Kimura adds to the Latin feel playing congas and percussion on three selections. Relentless is an energetic, neobop/fusion program of six originals with two covers. The band and the music come together nicely making this a swinging set with a lot of juice.
