O’s Notes: Pianist Chip Stephens leads a trio with bassist Dennis Carroll and drummer Joel Spencer. They play eight selections including three originals by Chip. The music is large, energizing and fresh starting with a rousing arrangement of Carla Bley’s “Syndrome” moving to “Somewhere Before The End” and jamming on “Chip’s Blues”. We enjoyed Chips work on piano, especially solo on “This Funny World”. This is a winning combo!
