O’s Notes: Requiem For A Pit Viper is a quartet led by saxophonist Rich Halley. Michael Viakovich (tb), Clyde Reed (d) and Carson Halley (d) join him. The program is a brassy free fusion spread over ten songs. Halley composed and produced the entire effort. Things get a little chaotic on “View From the Underpass” as the horns duel each other while Carson holds things together. We enjoyed the swinging groove of “Circumabulation” best.
