O’s Notes: Tord is a Norwegian pianist assembling a strong team of musicians to perform eleven new originals. The music is characteristic of the jazz from the region with many dark tones. Restored, Returned features strong performances from the band starting with bassist Mats Eilertsen on “Way In” followed by an emotionally charged blues vocal on “Lay Your Sleeping Head, My Love” featuring Kristin Asbj¿rnsen. Kristin sings several passionate songs on this album adding unique coloration. We enjoyed the adventurous spirit of “The Gaze” featuring Tore Brunborg on sax. This is a well-recorded introspective album.
