O’s Notes: His beard is a little longer and he certainly has more grey! It has been eight years since veteran jazz guitarist Mark Elf released Returns 2014. He hasn’t lost a step, exploding on Jacky’s jaunt with one of his characteristic fleeting solos. Elf is articulate; his speed doesn’t blur the notes and his team stays right with him, the same crew from his last 2 CDs. Peter Washington (b), David Hazeltine (p) and Lewis Nash (d) are polished first call musicians who help Mark deliver a strong performance. Mark also wrote two songs specifically for baritone guitar, yet another fine touch from the master guitarist.
