O’s Notes: Dickson’s voice is delicate but strong as she puts her own twist on ten jazz classics. Claire sings blue tones, bends the notes and scats improvisation along with the melodies. Her approach works best on blues tunes like “Black Coffee” and “Midnight Sun” but some may find her straying too far from the originals for comfort. Her risks establish her signature and allow her to make a strong statement.
