O’s Notes: David Smith plays trumpet with Ben Wendel on saxophone, Matt Clohesy on bass, drummer Kendrick Scott and leader David Cook playing piano. Shayna Steel adds vocals on “I Know You Know” to break up the instrumentals. Cook wrote the majority of tunes and blends in a few covers seamlessly. Smith and Wendel do an excellent job especially on “Shift”. They support Cook in the spotlight and with special accents making Scenic Design a vibrant session.
