O’s Notes: Contemporary jazz trumpeter Rick Braun takes a turn at the mic on this collection of vocal standards. Actually, Rick has been singing for quite some time but mostly in the background. He’s up front and center here and sounding really good. His tone is melodic with lots of passion, much like his trumpet playing! The program consists of eleven popular hits backed by an orchestra with lush strings and Braun is impressive. In case you were wondering, he does play his trumpet from time to time as well. Highlights are “Once Upon A Summertime”, “The Good Life” and “Time After Time”.
