O’s Notes: Damon Smith plays many instruments, mainly piano, with a raspy voice, and New Orleans, blues style reminiscent of Dr. John. He surrounds himself with a wide cast of talented musicians to support his witty compositions. There’s a country swagger on “Wrapped Up and Obsolete” that defines the style of this session. The band is rocking the blues behind Smith’s stories, eleven songs in just over a half an hour.
