O’s Notes: Nána Simopoulos is a vocalist, guitarist, composer and arranger inspired by the poetry of Rumi and Hafiz. She paired music from her repertoire of originals with new lyrics and vocalese. The resulting session has an exotic tropical feel that differentiates Skins from other world jazz recordings. Nána’s vocals are laid back and well integrated with the instrumentation particularly on “Owl Woman”. Our favorites are “The Pathway” with cool sax solo by Dave Liebman and “Anases”.
