O’s Notes: This is a welcomed new album featuring Lee (g) as a leader after seeing him as a sideman on many other CDs. He gives a nice blend of covers and fresh originals that reestablish his penchant for producing Top 10 songs on the NAC charts. He takes us to South Africa with “Capetown” an accurate depiction of the spirit and music of the region. We also liked “Better Days” featuring vocals from Joyce. There are many fine musicians enlisted to perform here including Sheila E (d), Alex Acuna (bongos, congas), Dave Grusin (p), Paulinho Da Costa (perc), Brian Bromberg (b), John Patitucci (b) and Patrice Rushen (p). That line-up is not wasted as Ritenour produces another winner.
