O’s Notes: Pianist Chris Donnelly plays relaxing, easy listening music. It is a solo effort of varied pace and dynamics. We can and will use it as a backdrop for many events. An astute listener can easily engage and enjoy the music at any point yet it is never intrusive. The program includes seven of Donnelly’ originals along with nicely placed covers of standards like Bud Powell’s “Hallucinations” and Parker’s “Donna Lee”. In doing so Chris touches on the complete history of jazz. It is a winner.
