O’s Notes: Vanessa’s voice is approachable yet stunning in its simplicity. she blends well with her band and allows them to share the spotlight deservingly so throughout the session. We loved the title track featuring Perea and trombonist Robert Edwards in a jovial cat and mouse exchange. That turned out to be the norm for the set with pianist Dave Lantz shining during many passages as well. There are many strong selections including the swinging “Let Me Tell You” and “Celia” with Perea soaring and scatting to cap the final song of the set”‘.
