O’s Notes: This is round two of the highly regarded Fast Track (4/5). It is again a spirited and dynamic performance from one of the best modern jazz big bands. The Sound Check musicians are some of New York’s best including pianist Bill Mays, soloist on “Speak Low”, John Riley (d), Jim Pugh (tb) and Jon Gordon (sax). Among the best tunes are the title track featuring Stamm and Mays, “Caravan” and “You And The Night And The Music”.
