O’s Notes: This session has a bubbly spirit along with Latin rhythms that lend towards a relaxed mood. Martin plays with a full band: John Goldie (rhythm g), Dave O’Higgins (sax), Alec Dankworth (b), Jack Emblow (accordion) and James Taylor (d). The program was inspired by and is a tribute to Django. Taylor’s arrangements capture the Spirit of Django while evolving them to 2004. Among the best are “Nuages” and “Double Top”.
