O’s Notes: The core trio is Domenic Genova (b), Jerry Kalaf (d) with Gerald on piano. They cook on these ten songs with good help from guest artists, Larry Koonse (g) on “Warne-ing” and Chuck Manning (s) on “Bass (and Tenor) Tune”. Henry Franklin (b) also adds a grooving swing to two of the numbers. Hagen shines on the softer, mellow cuts like “Up Jumped Spring”. It’s very nicely balanced.
