O’s Notes: Pianist Michel Wintsch, drummer/vocalist Gerry Hemingway and bassist Bänz Oester form the WHO trio. They have tackled many genres before spending the last three years or so focused on the music of Billy Strayhorn & Duke Ellington. These interpretations are far greater than simple covers as the trio puts their own musicality into nine classics without losing the essence of the originals. The clarity and openness make the music personal and inviting in an appreciable way.
