O’s Notes: Here is a take on contemporary jazz emanating from Scandinavia. David Carlsson plays bass and leads the Angels featuring Sofie Norling (vocals), Maggie Olin (keyboards) and Michala ¯stergaard-Nielsen (d). This Swedish band plays eight songs cast under a blue veil. Norling wrote most of the music and lyrics and is the dominant performer in the set. The supporting music blends well with the dark mood and lyrics. Ingrid Jensen (t, flugelhorn) makes a guest appearance.
