O’s Notes: Deborah Latz never takes the easy way out. Instead she creates her own interpretations of standards refreshing the landscape and making them personal. She gets strong support from pianist Alain Jean-Marie and Gilles Naturel on bass. This is a much smaller team than on her prior three recordings and the beauty of each instrument/vocals is amplified and appreciated. Gillies use of the bow on “Nature Boy” is very complementary to the mood. Latz is emboldening her signature and making a splash, again!
