O’s Notes: Norman Gimbel is not a well-known name to most music fans but everyone is familiar with at least a few of his lyrics. He wrote the words for a wealth of peaceful samba, pop and jazz tunes. Connie Evingson selects a sweet sixteen of his best and wraps her voice around them. It is tough to go wrong with these tunes and she adds polished musicians as well. Andreas Oberg (g), Dave Karr (cl) and Bob Bowman (g) are a few of the many on Sweet Happy Life. “Bluesette”, “So Nice” and “Meditation” resonated with us setting a relaxed mood.
