O’s Notes: Composer, tenor saxophonist and bandleader Kirk MacDonald assembles a fine quintet to perform his latest work for Symmetry, his latest release. Veteran trumpeter Tom Harrell makes his presence felt and is an excellent compliment to Kirk. They share melodies with pianist Brian Dickinson who also provides a solid foundation with Neil Swainson (b) and Dennis Mackrel (d). They held our attention and appreciation for over 76 minutes!
