O’s Notes: Lou returns with his warm baritone voice bringing us a new collection of ten popular ballads. Onaje Allan Gumbs does a fine job on piano throughout as does Bob DeVos on guitar, especially on “My Romance”. Marcus McLaurine (b) and Victor Ector (d) round out the rhythm section with Roger Byam adding sax on “I Just Found Out About Love” and “My Girl”. Wayne Bachelor plays bass on a few tracks as well. Gumb’s arrangements always include an improvised exchange that extends Lou’s personalization of the tunes. The pair works well together. The bossa nova treatment of the title track and his swinging exchange with McLaurine on “Just The Two Of Us” are fine examples.
