Tamba has a festive Afro-Latin groove with mixed vocals. The program is the vision of Max Wild (sax) and the late Sam Mtukudzi (vocals) who died in a tragic car accident on March 22, 2010. There is a blend of South African and calypso music that is fresh with an upbeat, happy feeling. We liked the flow of “Tambar” and the layered vocals of “In Your World”. There is a funky feel on “Ndakuvara” and a dose of fusion on “Butterfly”. All are performed in the context of the prevailing Afro-Latin groove making this an excellent fresh, festive album.
