O’s Notes: Grammy award winning jazz guitarist Pat Metheny takes a step in yet another direction with Tap. It is a collection of 6 compositions written by the punk jazz, Avant Garde saxophonist John Zorn. Metheny plays all instruments (overdubbing) and is joined by Antonio Sánchez who plays drums. There is some Klezmer, some fusion and a wealth of free improvisation. There are spots of brilliance in a sea of apparent chaos as Metheny pushes the envelope successfully chartering new territory.
