O’s Notes: The Distance is a free fusion adventure featuring leader and pianist Chris Gestrin, guitarist Ben Monder and drummer Dylan van der Schyff. The dynamics are excellent as the slip in and out of consciousness on songs like “Voice in the Night” and “Treacle”. They interlace silence and sound to draw listeners into their space. It is creative with outstanding SACD sound.
